Notes & Combos

Season 45 and the pain just keeps increasing.

I managed to reach Master I exclusively playing Branded hours before the release of the selection pack Regeneration of Stars, so keep that in mind!

If I manage to reach 1600 ranked points after the pack release, than I am going to post the deck list as well.

With the current deck build I focused on playing handtraps. Sadly I tend to go 2nd more often than going 1st, so I need to optimize my turn as much as I can. There are two approaches to this, some do think more gas is the answer for a better going 2nd, whereas I think if the opponent is kept from setting up his optimal board the win chances are better.

I tried a couple of different handtrap combinations, but Lancea is a staple. Infinite Impermanence, Ash, Fuwalos and Purulia are the options. Playing Ash Blossom was cool since it protects you from getting Maxx C'ed, but going 2nd against Maliss and Ryzeal Ash does not stop their turn, compared to Branded getting Branded Fusion ashed.

Same is true for inifinite impermanence, it has the potential to stop the opponent from playing, but it is rarely the case that they, for example, only have Dormouse to normal summon, you imperm and they end their turn. That is where Fuwalos and Purulia provide way more impact, sure it can get ashed too or called by the grave, but if it resolves it has more universal "stop the opponent from playing"-power.

If all things are in your favor you actually get draws of the mulcharmies. Season 45 sadly brought an increase in Drolls and Talents usage. These cards do hurt the mulcharmy usage, especially if the mulcharmy got negated and than they use Talents while you go 2nd going -2 in card advantage.

But from my experience these hand traps are still your best choice offering greatest risk reward ratio.

Underlining I did only play few games with more than 48 cards, so the all gas approach might potentially have a higher win rate. Personally the ability to do something on the opp's turn lifted my mood which did help win games.

Now saying the most important: You need to stay calm. If you start tilting, getting ****** and most ruinous becoming impatient you are going to lose more.

Some games are not winnable, but you need to train yourself to not immediately scoop of a perceived bad hand, at least (if you are going 2nd) play your turn as good as you can.

Luck and the numbers game are big factors in the current season, accept it, identify your goals and reach them.
